What Doesn't Kill You Makes You...

Irresponsible drinking might be summed up as the philosophy of “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger." [1] Responsible drinking – a much repeated phrase on campuses by students and universities alike – might be summed up as how colleges and universities suggest students break underage drinking laws.

Student disciplinary violations arising from underage drinking and other alcohol violations depend upon students finding happiness in doing things that someone else says you can’t do.   

Why Grow Up?

The other night my 18-year old woke up crying from a nightmare.  Don’t get me wrong – she’s a tough enough kid – a competitive full-contact martial arts fighter since she was twelve.  But she’s starting college in a few weeks and anxiety builds.

I usually talk to her about dream analysis – I consider myself a Jungian [1] - but I didn’t that night.  Sometimes dreams stay too fresh for a day or even two.  I remember times waking up from a dream of a lost love and being in a funk all day.

So, instead, on an interval run through the woods, I posed a question:
